Finance Improvement & Integration Specialist

In 2017, a leading investment firm (family office) began building a leading European platform in the field of online services through an active acquisition (buy & build) strategy. Since 2017, approximately 50 acquisitions have been completed within this platform in the Netherlands, Spain, France, Germany, the UK, and the USA. The investment philosophy is focused on entrepreneurship, with local management being responsible for the performance of each company (Opco), within jointly established frameworks. To continue the Group's growth, the Opcos are grouped into five segments. The Group is growing rapidly (both organically and through acquisitions), and it is expected that several more Opcos will be acquired in the coming period. The Group generates approximately €300 million in revenue with more than 900 FTEs (of which around 300 FTE in the Netherlands) and serves over 1.3 million customers.

The goal is to continue growing in the coming years, both organically and through an active acquisition strategy within Europe. To realize these growth ambitions, further professionalization of the finance team at the holding level is essential. For this reason, we are looking for a Finance Improvement & Integration Specialist who will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth transition for the acquired companies. The position of Finance Improvement & Integration Specialist offers a unique opportunity to make an impact in the areas of Finance, M&A, and financial integration. You will work closely with the Finance Leads of the various Opcos/segments, Group Control & Reporting, BI, M&A, Business Development, and the Board.

This project-based position focuses on creating value in the following areas:

• Financial onboarding/integration of acquisitions by establishing high-quality financial processes, systems, and teams aligned with the Group's requirements.
• Structuring, professionalizing, and improving the financial function of the Opco.
• Guiding acquisitions from due diligence through to the execution of value creation plans.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of an ambitious company and team. As a Finance Improvement & Integration Specialist, you will report to the Segment Finance Director and be part of a broader team of Finance Improvement & Integration Specialists at the Holding.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The core responsibility is to assist segment management in the financial onboarding/integration of acquisitions (Opcos) across Europe and the USA. The acquisitions primarily consist of SMEs with immature financial functions and highly involved directors/major shareholders. Depending on the maturity of the target company’s financial function, you will:

• Serve as the Finance Lead at the acquired Opco until a permanent solution is found, becoming part of the management team of the acquired Opco and leading management through the integration process.
• Support Finance Leads of acquired companies during the financial onboarding and integration process until it is completed.

Key activities during financial onboarding/integration include:

• Guiding acquisitions from due diligence through to the execution of value creation plans.
• Providing project management for all stakeholders, acting as the primary contact throughout the entire integration process.
• Working closely with the M&A team during the due diligence phase to ensure alignment of financial integration points.
• Collaborating closely with the Business Development team to align budget and forecast assumptions from the M&A business case with bottom-up forecasts from the Opco.
• Gaining a clear understanding of the Opco's accounting principles to align with the Group’s accounting manual.
• Understanding the Opco’s reporting structure and its differences from the Group’s reporting structure.
• Supporting management in internal reporting structures.
• Developing a plan for the financial integration of the Opco, coordinating with stakeholders (Group Control & Reporting, BD, BI, M&A, CFO) and Opco stakeholders on the why, what, when, and how.
• Ensuring a smooth integration of the Opco into the monthly closing and quarterly processes (forecasting/budgeting), including standardized reporting and handover to the Opco Finance Lead.
• Ensuring alignment and integration of practices concerning cash flow forecasting (Agicap), internal controls (Auditboard), and employee satisfaction (Leapsome).
• Assisting in the recruitment of a permanent Finance Lead for the newly acquired company, if applicable.

In addition to financial onboarding and integration projects, the Finance Improvement & Integration Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and/or contributing to a broad range of financial and/or business projects within the Holding, such as:

• The carve-out of asset deals (including preparing a business plan, setting up the complete operational organization, and managing the TSA and multiple workstreams).
• Projects related to the further professionalization, scaling of the organization, and IPO preparation, such as Internal Control Framework and IFRS implementation.
• Projects related to (re)financing, such as Lender Due Diligence and cash flow forecasting.

• Completed a financial/economic degree at university level (RC/CMA or RA/CPA).
• At least 8 years of experience in finance/control/transactions (e.g., several years at a Big 4 firm combined with corporate experience).
• Strong project management skills.
• Financially adept, results-oriented.
• Excellent knowledge and skills in accounting (Dutch GAAP required; UK, German, French GAAP and/or IFRS is a plus).
• Excellent skills with office applications (Excel and PowerPoint).
• Understanding of M&A processes from initiation to acquisition and integration.
• Experience managing (international) financial onboarding/integration projects is a plus.
• Entrepreneurial, hands-on, and pragmatic mindset.
• Self-starter, capable of working in teams but also independently managing large projects (both content and process).
• Fluent in English; other languages (e.g., Dutch, German, French) are a plus.
